Evaluation of the 6 wedges website

The project 6 wedges I thought went really well because we had people in different expertise so we could assign member's in our group to different task's which helped a lot because people could get on straight away with there task's.
The group work went smoothly and a lot of people had different idea's and we would form into a group each week and see what we had achieved. As the project went along we took certain element's out and added new one's. We could of made our project a lot bigger but kept it small for a reason to see how our project went in University and if it was used a lot in the University we could build upon the project and take it to different limit's.

So overall the project went really well and the team work worked great, i would of liked a bit longer to do the project because we could of added a few more element's and worked a bit more in depth with the system we created.

Website Design

The 6 wedges website we designed was made in HTML 5 and CSS 3 because the advanced styling you can do made our website look good.

We chose 5 links which are home, log in, register, Facebook / Twitter and contact. The reason i picked these links was because i didn't want to over complicate the site and these are the most important for our website.

The layout of the website look's really nice with the green, white and black. I think the design is bright and make's you want to look further.

This is the welcome page which makes people feel welcome on our site.

The site we created is easy to use and navigate around and that is what we wanted because it makes the viewer play the game easier

How we made the project

We made our project working as a team and designating perfect position's within the groups because Tom Saunder's and Paul Watson knew more then the rest of us on PHP and Mysql.
Rachel Dalton could set up a domain which is helpful also her input was needed in group discussion's.

Mike Hills Made the poster's because he is good with photo editing suite's.

And I made the HTML 5 website and also the CSS3 but also I posted most of the blog post's.
I also made the question's to ask the viewer. The project was basically made with Qr Code's + PHP + Mysql + HTML5 + CSS3 + Poster's + Fun.

What are project is going to do

Are project is going to create a simple quiz game where you can play the game around the University.
People will be able to sign up to, the 6 wedges game for free and then play the game.
We want our project to be fun and informative for everyone to play. Also the website will be easy to access and why not sign up it's free.

Eventually I want the project to be a game so all Plymouth can play and enjoy. But we had another idea where the university could use the project as a guided tour for new student's.

The Software we are using

We will be using a QR Code generator to get our Qr Code's. And when we generate the code's we will be linking them to the website page.

We are using HTML 5 and CSS3 to create the website along with PHP and Mysql

We will also be using mobile phone's to take picture's of the Qr Codes and this will link us to the website so phone's count as software.

So this is basically all the software we are using and is important to make our project run.

Social Behaviour's at the University

In the Student Union:

People some time's meet with there friend's first and go to the bar and get a drink.  Some people get a drink then sit down and do work but 7 / 10 time's people meet with friend's and watch live sport's, some people just chat.

In Babbage Building:

Mostly people do work in the room but some people watch TV on the computer's or other video's on the internet. Some people were doing group work discussing what they need to do.
But there was a lot more busyness in the room.

In the Library:

People pick up book's, sit at a desk reads part of it and then type's something on there laptop or write stuff down.

Some people go to a computer to find a book and then looks for the book in the library and check's the book out and leave's the library.

Some people work in the 24/7 rooms and use the computer's to do there work and its very quite in there.

The reason we looked at all of this is because our game will be around the University and we need to find good location's to put them.

Surveying at Plymouth University

When studying people at Plymouth University I found one of the busiest place's are the Library.
Another busy place is the Student Union but people come and go there.

The Babbage building we are setting up the game in, can get busy on certain day's like Tuesday and Thursday's.

Also a busy place all the time is the Roland Levinsky building people walk through there a lot, and also up stair's is busy constantly.

So above is a short explanation of where is busy in the University so this would be key area's where we could put our Qr poster's to.
   

Check List

Well the PHP / Mysql Software will be made by Tom Saunders & Paul Watson so they will be bringing that in on the day.

The poster's with the Qr Code's will be made by Mike Hill's

The set up of the domain will be done by Rachel Dalton

The question's and HTML with CSS3 will be made by Dale Critchlow

The Wedges on the website were created by Josh Lane

And then everybody in the group has put thought and idea's into the group.

The day we release the game

So here I am going to talk about when we set up our project the day it gets released.

9:00AM - 10:00AM :

All get to Uni and meet up. Get the check list out to make sure everybody has the equipment. And if we meet up this time we will have time to get the item's in time for the setup.

10:00AM - 11:00AM:

This will be testing time setting the installation's up putting the poster's in two room's BGB211 & BGB 213. And making sure everything moves smoothly.

11:00AM-12:00PM:

This will be time to fix glitches and problem's. If no problem's we will start to set up user name's for our group.

12:00PM - Onwards:

This will be extra time to sort any problem's also this will be where we present our product.

The next picture is a few bit's of information on some of the famous people that the University has used for some building'. Because in the question's there will be question's named after the building's.

Advertising The 6 Wedges

We were thinking how could we make our game big? and that's when we thought we need to advertise the project. We could advertise the 6 Wedges on Facebook, Twitter and all of the team's website's.
Also because our game is going to be in the University we could put a poster in the Student Union.
Also we could email all the student's in the University to get them to play.

If the game gets even bigger we could create something like twitter on the 6 Wedges website.

Video Tutorial Maybe?

We were thinking of having a video tutorial on our website. The reason we have decided to put a tutorial video on our website is to show the public how to play our game.
I think video's can be more descriptive than writing because it actually show's an example of what to do.

The video will be about 1 minute long because then the video will not take as long to load, it will be uploaded on youtube and then embedded on our website.

Where the project could go next!

If we made our project bigger our game could be made into a tour guide. This could be to help new Student's find there way around, because when you are a new student the University seems huge.

Also further on we could make our own app so people could use the software we created easier, straight on there mobile phone's.

On a larger scale our Trivial Pursuit Interactive game could be used around the city, and it could become a big Interactive game.
There are loads more idea's we could do but because it is for a uni project we decided to do it within the University kind of like a beta version.

My Role In the Project

My Role in the project consists of making question's for the game, also making a HTML 5 and Css3 website the last thing I was doing is making most of the blog. And I have completed the role's I got given.

The tasks other people got given were:
-Creating a poster with QR Codes on it.
-Creating the PHP + Mysql which was made by Tom Saunder's
In the PHP + Mysql there is :
   - Log in
   -Register
   -Question's table
   -Linking QR Codes to the page

Health And Saftey and our project

Our project doe's not fall into any health and safety regulations because its going to be on the wall.
And it is using the Internet and your Mobile Phones. The only small Health and Safety part would be when putting the poster's up try not to put the pin's in your hand's.
The other small health and safety feature would be don't look at your phone playing the game whilst you are crossing the road and also whilst driving.

Requirement's for the 6 Wedge's

Here are the requirement's we have for the 6 Wedges Interactive Project:

-We must create an interactive installation

-The public must engage with the installation easily

-The installation must work inside and outside

-The installation will require guidance if you are under the age of 11

-The installation must not have any explicit content

-The installation must work till the University close's

-The installation must be accessible for everyone

-The installation must be easy to use for everyone who uses it

-The installation must pass health and safety regulation's

-The installation must be accepted by the University to go onto the wall's.
