Trivial Pursuit for the Iphone

I lately found the Trivial Pursuit game is on the Iphone, it features a shake of the device to roll the die, and really great up to date graphics. There are different difficulty level's ranging from really easy to really, really, really hard.

This is what the game-play look's like it has your character and others placed around the screen.
I really like the way you can play with 2 or more people on the same device because some game's make your friends buy the game and you can only play multi-player between different device's,
The game-play is very easy to play and follow and there is no lag or glitches in the game so overall the app is a very successful app and it has been in the top 100 App's for a long time now and it's only 59p so its well worth a purchase.
What would be good for our game later on is if it could be sold as an app and then we could make a bit of money for our hard effort in making the game and at the moment easy money to make is on the app store but the catch is apple takes 30% from the profit's.

More ideas for the 6 wedges

Today in the group we discussed more ideas to do with the 6 wedges game I will be posting later a few pictures of the mind maps we created and the process of how things will happen.

A few more ideas we added in today was:

-Location tracker which creates a line which will follow your path when you get the Qr codes.

-The Qr codes will be on posters advertising the product and also for you to get a wedge on your score board.

-There will be a random question answered when you go onto the website each time.

Design

For the 6 wedges we need to make the qr codes i am going to be using a qr code generator.
And these codes are going to link to a website.
I have made an example code here this will link you 2 my blog the 6 wedges.
The Qr code is like a bar code but its only available to read with a qr reader, a lot of companies use them on there products now for specific details. The code is from the black lines on the code.
The big squares are the position of the Qr code where the small square is the alignment. So it make sure it gets the right image.

There is more of a read up on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code and it explains a lot on Qr code.

The plan short snappy idea's

Take a picture of the qr code, this will link you 2 a website, on this website will be a question from 1 of the 6 categories.
If you get the question right you will get a piece of pie and a new qr code which will give you a clue to wear the next qr code is.
if you get it wrong you will have to find another code and the one you picked will be invalid.
on the same website there will be a twitter feed for people 2 speak 2 other people playing the game. And also there will be a Facebook group for it.

Twitter Api

I was looking at Twitter Api 2day because I want 2 put twitter on the website we are going to create.
The reason I want 2 put twitter on the website is 2 give clues to people and also for people to start writing about the event and sharing comments which could make our game big.

This is the website for Twitter Api:

Geo location

I have been looking into Geo location and I found a few websites on how to use the Geo-Location and most of the examples i have found use information based on your i.p address and also Wi-fi.
The examples i found do not get your location exactly though so im still looking into the ways it can get your exact location.

This is the first website I found it uses the Google Maps Api, here is a link for the website:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/index.html

Google maps Api is HTML and javascript code and this put's Google maps on your web-page with Geo-location and street view.

The second website i found was dive into html5 and it explains most things to do with Geo-location.
http://diveintohtml5.org/geolocation.html

This website is like a book and it explains Geo-location really well. There is Html 5 code on there which you can put into your web-page.

some old planning for our project

Well for our project we had the initial idea where the Qr code link's to a website showing your location and the question to unlock you wedges.

Then on the web page you answer the question and if correct you get a piece of pie / wedge and it remembers your devices cookie's.

Next when you get the wedge there will be a comment box and you fill out your name and a small comment where you found the qr code, just to let people know you were the first person to get the qr code.

Then when you get all 6 wedge's you win and you have a challenge to try again but with a harder difficulty.

We have changed how the project goes now because we didn't find a reason to use the location tracking and these were only early simple ideas.

This is the Trivial Pursuit game if you didn't know what it is

The 6 wedges

About:
The 6 wedges is an evolved game from trivial pursuit we are using some concepts from the game trivial pursuit. The concepts we are using is the 6 wedges and the Question categories.

The game will use QR codes this is to link the location you are in to a website where the questions will be asked. We may make a log in screen so the page is personalized for you or we might just make a website where everyone can join in and show everybody's location's. This will be good fun because people can work together to find answers and explore the whole university.

Where we are publishing this:
We are publishing this in the university it will be a university game and if it hits big we may make this go throughout the city its in the publics hands.

Technology we will be using:
We will be using Qr codes for the player to find, we will either use Facebook, Twitter or Google maps to show people's location. The questions will be asked on either twitter or Facebook or maybe on a personal website.
